Sleeping bag?

arbogrunt is right about down being crap when wet, it wont loft and trap heat where as a synthetic or fibre pile bag will still provide upto 75% of insulation value when wet but sleeping in a wet bag either down or synthetic is no fun. Down is superior for its weight/warmth rato and if cared for correctly will last significantly longer than a synthetic (fibres break up). If you invest in a down bag then look after it and you'll get many good years service. If your not going to care for your bag or anticipate that it will get damp alot of the time, then go for synthetic

i dont know if anyone has suggested these but the trakker bags are the best for us big guys and not of the mummy type shape so like a duvet and lots of room.

i wouldnt have any other bag, the five seaon rating of the top of the range bag is good and reliable, youll be warm in open air and frosts!
