Tulip Tree planting distance

Does anyone know the recommended minimum planting distance for a tulip tree? My neighbour has got one which was planted within the last 10 years, is now about 25 feet high and is less than 25 feet from the house. It's a pity it's so close, because I know it's a beautiful tree. I believe they reach about 100 feet, and I assume that the longer it is left the more expensive it will be to "deal with".

If your refering to shrinkable soils it depends where you are in the country and what soil the tree is planted in.

With regards to property damage via the roots (if any at all) I'd have to look it up in my tables for that species

interesting point made today, tree species tables for shrinkable clays.

it ISNT about the amount of water each species needs, they all draw the same for a given size, apparently, it is their capacity and hydraulic potential that differs, and oaks are the most adapted to surviving by seeking resources of water and drawing on deep soil levels. a piece of information that i was rather annoyed to have been slow to know!:blushing:
