Hi there Masters, there is a huge range of kit out there to choose from, and most of it is good. As with many things, climbing kit is very personal, after all you will be the one using it day in, day out. I would try out different harnesses, ropes etc before spending your hard earned cash, if your local dealer stocks a range of them, try as many as possible, at work/college try stuff out. There are several stockists of kit on this site, some of whom supply local training facilities, such as Jonesie (FR Jones), jsut click on the banners, or email them. Hope this is a help to you.

Price range shouldnt really come into it, by this i mean spending big money on a harness and then finding its not all that comfortable. You have't to try them out really, find a local arb dealer, they'll be more than happy to let you try before you buy.

I climb in the Komet dragonfly which i find comfortable, but i dont really like leg loops. I hear that the Treemotion is a very nice harness. But you pay for that.:scared1:

Hope you find what you need.

wearing the harness properly is the key-i hated the tree-magic when i first tried it as it crushed me knackers so carried on using the old willans for a bit, then had the treeflex harness for a year or so, real nice, still got it as a spare, new employer then got me a tree-magic, which properly adjusted is brilliant!

cant stress enough how much difference wearing the harness correctly can improve comfort!

the other thing you need to try variations of is your rope-the diffrence between 11&13mm is very noticeable (if only girls thought so) also i soon found i really dont like stretchy ropes-personal opinion!

some suppliers will give you a discount if youre an arb student, or if you buy a couple of things at a time, be cheeky, do a bit of teeth sucking, say the price is a bit steep, and see if they'll do you a discount - 10% on £300s worth of kit is £30-3 karabinas!
