The cheapest option would be choker off with a bowline and munter hitch on the line backed up by your friction hitch.

I suppose the downside is that it would be a bit more difficult for the rescuer to control your descent

I choke it off with a running bowline under my lanyard, works great, then just use your tail or a tagline to clip into the loop and pull it down after hitting the deck.

 

I see the pic shows it over my lanyard, but it is under it most of the time

i suppose a mid line bowline with long tail would be a super simple way as well..

I also use it sometimes for gaining access to the crown with srt using the yoyo method, and if you have a sudden need to get down (bad bowel problem:blushing:) then your already set up for it by simply taking off the hand ascender and pully:thumbup:

yeah ive played on the RADS sysstem a bit. i never really used it for access, always prefer the hand ascender, chest ascender set up. does speed up the ol changeover to descent though! definetly has a place in our industry i reckon, i dont think petzl agrees with the grigri being use this way though

How would you use it to choke off against the stem? I'd try and avoid a karabiner due to cross loading issues and i dont fancy pulling my rope through the loop...

There is no cross loading issue.

 

Cross loading is loading across the minor axis.

i dont use a crab simply because it slips off the choke sometimes when you take your weight off it, whereas the bowline can slip also but much less.
