Southern beech?

Found this today while out in Dorchester (I'm camping nearby in wareham forest). I didn't bring my Owen Wilson book with so can't check but. I think it looks a bit like some kind of southern beech. See pics and let me know your thoughts.

Ill take a look, were looking for places to walk while the weather is ok tomorrow. Any other Intel?

Here is a link for Thorncombe Woods. There are normally rangers around the woods who can give you a breif talk about management of the woods and species in there. There is a big interp board at the car park.

The other site to check out is Hilfield Hill Hilfield hill - dorsetforyou.com .It has some of the best views of West Dorset.
