ID help

Can anyone help me identify this tree? I didn't get a picture of the whole tree - it was approx 5m tall on a single stem, dividing in to multi stems at about 2 metres. Smooth bark.

 

Apparently is has white flowers in the spring.

 

The bud and leaf arrangement are most like Amelanchier to me, but the leaves are wrong for that.

 

I am stumped! (nothing new there)

It seems a bit lame to say that was my first impression when I saw it. My Collins tree guide pictures don't look much like the leaf sample I took, but I agree with you.
