Found this fungi on a yew tree the other day, and cannot identify, a collegue has put a spanner in the works and suggested possibly Ganoderma carnosum, but is not sure, plus pretty rare?

Spores rusty brown or white ? Annual or perennial ? Trama corky and cream, woody and whitish to cream or juicy and pale ocre ?

can anybody help?

Hello nb, welcome to the site.

I would have thought that this may be a desicated fruit body of Laetiporus sulphureus.

Ganoderma carnosum is (I think) is a basal decaying Ganoderma.

Have a look at this link............ G. carnosum
