The plan is to reduce it from its 50 odd foot to about 20 just to see if it will limp on for a few more years.

wouldnt bother, chestnuts rubbish with decay, and one as potent as kretz:thumbdown: not the right spot for a habitat stump of 20 ft, try 6ft!
