We have an SLA (Service Level Agreement) with a few local parishes to maintain their RoW. We did our rounds of mowing in a village called Child Okeford. As our main mower was in for repair (diff lock failure and new drive belt) we had to do it all by strimming. Had some fun along the way and got a nice picture of the Friday team. In the last pic from left to right (Me, Liam [work exp] Sam [FJF], Luke [stepping Stones scheme and PTSD sufferer).

I really miss being a Countryside Ranger  I worked as a Volunteer for 6 months and then full time between 2006-2008 at West Lancs District Council. They then paid for my CS31 and I moved to tree work etc.

Nothing more satisfying than building a wooden bridge over a stream in a nice woodland :001_smile: If they had paid more than the £11k I received I probably would have stayed!

Your a volunteer?? geez matt you must love it to stick out the volunteering for so long. Hats off to you mate:thumbup1:

Yup. I love the work i am in. The main reason i have been volunteering for 5 years is because there is nothing going anywhere job wise. Only volunteering posts and very short seasonal contract posts.

And todays job...... Had an answerphone message from the local police that they had shifted some druggie campers from one of our sites. Sadly they have only moved to another site o nthe other side of the river. I've been a volunteer with the ranger service for 5 years and i have never seen a drug problem this bad ever. In the last month we have filled 8 small sharps boxes:afraid:. The police are building a portfolio of drug related problems so they can get an exclusion order for the druggies. The next smiley is what i would like to do to them.:bluboomteamenforcer

Take care mate dont get stuck with one of those things or it could be goodnight in a slow horrible way :goodnight:

Whenever we have a report of needles we don our steel based boots, thick trousers and welding gloves. Its such a shame they use our sites for it too:thumbdown:
