stihl fs85, changing heads?

it will be a torx head bolt, you should of got a little black or big silver torx key when you bought it.

 

ahh i just want to change like the auto cut head for a blade?

and i bought it of flea bay, i have a torx driver but cant see how to take the head of with out taking the whole gear head of

Should be a small hole on the gear head, you get supplied a locking pin when you buy new. Just use an allen key of the right size, put it into the hole and turn the cutting attachement. You should feel it lock, allowing you to unscrew whatever attachment you have.

Correct. The small hole is on the top and once whatever you shove in locks, the whole autocut head will twist off by hand.

If you look down on the top of the gearbox there will be a hole about 1/4" dia on the opposite side to the filler plug. Put a square ended rod of about the right size down this and rotate the head and you will feel it lock. Head will then unscrew but remember it is back thread. To put the blade on you need a nut and washer which the bloke from ebay won't have included with the strimmer.

 

Edit: Got beaten to the draw. Now I'm dead.

thanks mate, i bought these bits with the blade,,,

thanks all,, i spent bout 10 mins trying to figure out how to lock the head but no luck,, thanks again all, will try tomos with my new knowledge
