Cheers for the input chaps, just got back from a muddy 5 days, in summerset . So sorry haven’t had a chance to reply:thumbup1:

Where are you moving to?

Theres a few jobs going in Christchurch....if your desperate

Good luck with your move

Looking for work in the north to start with, going to be pretty cold when I arrive but

may well end up in Christchurch, if that’s where the work is, have spent some time in Japan before, so not adverse to shaky ground, although not at quite at the same magnitude,:scared1:

have you seen Joe harris and Kiah martin retractable landyard? dont want to blow ur bubble but they had it for a few years. Kiah's is pretty compact, got 6m of blaze in it. i try and get a pic of it and show you.

Awesome on the Move to NZ, amazing place and great people. Lots going on in the climbing in sceen and some of the best in the world. i am sure u will enjoy it. need any advice/tips about the place PM. as i have lived there for 3 Years and worked for lots of different compaines.

Cheers MOG

I have seen Joe’s on the smooth climbing thread, that’s what inspired me to have a go.

was pretty easy to do really, I like the idea of the pipe but one good thing about this one is that it isn’t a closed unit, so if it does bind you can easily loosen it up/turn the stopper knot and if something horribly wrong, you can easily put the rope back on the spool,

Ps thanks for offer about info one nz, I know a couple of people out there, but obliviously the moor the merrier.

looks good that does, now you just need to figure out a back mounted one for your climbing line to save redirecting

If you did that you’d need a strong enough spring to pull you up the tree

waheeey that things pretty neat! a bit out there! and a sure way of getting out of doing the hoovering...

is it strong enough to pull it through the friction knot? or can it only take the loose end?

Cheers, Gareth

It does retract through the hitch, although not as reliably, that’s why I was playing round with different hitches e.g. the Knut in the pic, (bad enough at getting my main line to self tend now I’ve got 2 to contend with)

I’ve got a positioner laying in the bottom of a box somewhere maybe I’ll give that ago

anyway got some ideas for the mk2 and know an inventor who lives pretty close, he’s done everything from stunt work to robot wars, if I have the time before I go may run up and see him.:001_rolleyes:
