020t clutch

Hi,

Just pulled my 020 out of storage after not using it for about two years. It starts and runs fine but the chain doesn't run. The clutch is spinning but doesn't seem to rotate the chain. It ran fine last time it was used.

I'm assuming this is a problem with the clutch - any comments? and if so would I need to replace the clutch basket too?

(Yes, I did take the chain brake off - hasn't been that long).

Thanks.

Sounds like the clutch shoes have bonded themselves to the clutch centre. Spray it with WD40, leave it overnight, tap the clutch shoes with a mallet - with much emphasis on TAP....the shoes should move a little and then fire the saw up again, if this doesn't do it, take the clutch off and strip, clean and rebuild it.

Take the bar and clutch side cover off, if the clutch drum doesn't spin when the saw is running fast, then this is the problem.

Just don't do this after rebuild unless you have really cranked the clutch on - had one let loose once and it ended up 40 feet away - fortunately it didnt hit me:blushing:
