Looks like a crown lift, thinning and reduction all in one :lol:

Good job mate it looks good and has a good shape still.

I don't think the customer really knew what they wanted themselves! Was just told to 'make it smaller and get more light into the garden' so I just reduced it, thinned it slightly and removed the deadwood (partially responsible for it being thinned because there was a lot of it!).

 

Did'nt have a groundy so I came down every now and then to see how the shape was and clear up.

 

Bit patchy in places and sometimes a bit cut-happy but the cuts were clean and i think i'd have a better understanding next time around. :001_cool:

What did surprise me a bit was how much branches move upwards when you make the cut and take the weight off them ... caught me out a few times shape wise!:blushing:
