glad you said that..... i always try to see if i know them......not a hope this time.:001_smile:

 

What are the likely candidates do you think?

 

Time of year of shot would help, we know the host i think its oak, we know its white rot because of the basal language, we know its aggressive by same kew.

 

two candidates representing here

 

Ganoderma australe/resinaceum but an issue i need clarifying is the white mould OR spore on top of brackets, dont often see mould on australe like this but would be a potential on the more annual and esier degrading resinaceum.

 

iether of these two ganos would produce agressive decays white rots and the basal flaring.

I was afraid to say oak polypore before, not now, the spore print is white.

 

if this is the Oak polypore, and its likely, this is an important find, and needs clarification.

 

until now as far as im told my shots of it are unique because they are not known for growing ON barke or rather breaking through, and only known to fruit on exposed brown rotted heartwood of oaks.

 

where is this tree gollum?

i was going to say oak polypore from the first photos but thought no....surely not!!! (and didnt want to look a fool)

They certainly look similar eh?
