Chain oil question? - Husqvarna 576XP

Hi Guys,

I was running my Husqvarna 576XP yesterday. It was a hot day (yes even in Scotland) and I was working on a really old wind blown oak which was very dry and hard.

When I took the oil cap off, it give a nice hiss and the oil was bubbling away.

I know the oil tank is next to the muffler but should the oil get that hot?

Never seen this in 15 years of using saws.

Regards

Mark

This sounds very wrong, is it the heat that is causing the oil to bubble, there is no source of air that may make it do that?

Think it is one for the dealer!

Usual sources of excesive heat are very dirty cooling fins or blocked spark arrestor in the muffler and of course the lean mix but the latter will do the engine before you know about it.

Are you sure that the crank gasket hasn't gone and the crank pressure is somehow pushing air in to the oil tank - sounds pretty implausible though:confused1:
