vented bags/bulk bags

I was going to buy some of the vented bulk bags but i have access to quite a few non vented bulk bags and i'm sure i read on here that someone had used the non vented ones and sliced across two of the side (two or three slits either side) with a stanley knife, does this work to season logs? or should i just stop being tight and buy the vented one's.
