Apoplectically spitting feathers! Totally maddening

On the surface this story seems simple enough, a person doing his or her job and following rules and regulations

Nope, not even close.

He clearly went beyond his remit or they couldn’t have sacked him. UK employment laws are pretty straightforward and unfair dismissal is an expensive track so HR departments avoid any sacking that isn’t clear cut.

I am in the Huk/Shrek camp. It appears he did something he shouldn’t have but it is also a tabloid report so you can be sure you only have the salacious facts that make it readable and entertaining.

Newspaper is interested in selling papers not truth.

Having said all that sacking him is hardly in the spirit of the railway children.

The story's (supposedly) been written by Richard & Judy. Since when were they authorities on H&S or railway operating procedures ?

Like treequip, I doubt if they'd have sacked him unless he'd done something seriously wrong which he should have known about, or he'd had warnings on his record.
