I would arrange a meet with the TO and client, you probably wont be aloud to reduce the tree and so a thin will be the comperise offerded by the TO, make sure this is made clear to the client before quoting. I recently quoted to reduce a Beech that the cleint said she had permission to do, later found out my old boss had quoted to thin it as she had got confused with the percentages given thinking a 30% thin meant the the tree would be smaller. hope this makes sense

The lady in question thought that one quote was a good idea originaly, pretty persuasive.

Another tree surgeon quoting say's he has experience of working in that road? and to just put in an app' for a reduction.

I suggested the meet with TO to put across a case with the customer for a good reduction over a period of 3 years. All this without cost, on the way to the yard you see!

Any way I offered 3 references down the same road and the usual patter about insurance etc and can you prove it.

What has 'experience of working in the same road' got to do with anything? Give the client a ball park figure for a reduction on that tree. Do you quote more for a 30% than a 25%? If the TO refuses a reduction then it's likely your client won't settle for much else isn't it? The spec is to make it smaller.

 

Don't charge your client for making the app. You will simply be giving credence to those who advertise that they don't charge for apps, and it only takes 5 minutes to fill in an online form.

The planning portal is a pain! It will not let you progress until you tick every box! It asks for maps photos reports all electronically some of which are not required for every tree.

the only snag i find is if you do all the leg work fill forms site meeting s ect then the client armed with relevant info and maybe permision decides then to look around for a better price so be helpfull and proffesional but dont be a mug .

Wouldnt it bother you though if you put the app in then the client uses someone else to carry out the work?

 

IME if they wont pay for the app they will also want the tree work doing for next to nothing.
