slope stabilization

I am building a forestry barn on a plot of land with a very steep gradient. do any of you have any experience with slope stabilzation in general. in specific i was wanting to use trees to net the banking together. i was thinking on using willow to start due to it being quick growing and to suck out the water. then i thought alder would be good because i heard it had a very deep tap root (is this true?). any other species reknown for their tap roots?

 

Any other suggestions?

after research it appears that the tree grow quickly and suckers horizontally and doesn't grow too big. Is this the resason it's use for slope stabilization?

FC state a research project, but not the results, perhaps you could contact the research station or purchase the report (looks an interesting read)

Robinia is a personal favourite for building (as it lasts about a year longer than steel) firewood (it burns incredibly hot) fenceposts (again due to their lasting nature, though they can be hard to staple into, and screw-in isolators need pre-drilling on ocasion) honey production (though they flower very short, the honey is superb and higly prized).

One of the downsides is it's suckering wich means you need to keep it under tight control to stop it spreading to where you don't want it.

I use Dogwood, it sends suckers up all over the place. It is pretty too. I have willow as well but it does not at first sight look to be so good, but the slope has held just fine anyway. The willow seems to need more maintenance.
