J Edgar Hoover was in his own world and in the beginning of the history of the FBI he was brilliant. With each new president after FDR he knew he could be replaced. This is where the "protect the bureau at all cost" started and it also gave JEH the additional ability to collect as much information on his bosses in order to have at least a few aces in the hole

should he be called. With the present lease holder in the white house I can honestly say I feel sorry for these employees esp. the ones in the field. With an AG who is willing to protect sworn enemy combatants with civy trials for the sake of protecting his bosses hide blows me away. I am sure that JEH is spinning like a top with every new act of surrendering the Bill of Rights. IMO I don't think any thing that was done by JEH was done under his guidance. They were done under his orders. He had so much information on so many different people.
