Quick question

I live around the corner from this street Lime, and as I was walking past it today I noticed a bracket fungus that had been at the base of the main stem was lying on the floor next to the tree. I'm not too hot on fungi ident, I thought it might be a type of phellinus but I honestly have no idea.

The tree doesn't look great, but it's out in leaf. Was just wondering if I should report what I've seen to the TO? Or is it nothing to be concerned about? Just after some opinions. Here's some pics.

If I see anything that concerns me about an LA owned tree - and occasionally a privately owned one too! - I always make a right pest of myself and notify them about it.

Most LA's have detailed data bases for their trees with inspection records dating back for many years. It will only take a few minutes for them to check the records for that particular tree and if necessary arrange an adhoc inspection.

You probably know more than you think you do, and you certainly have a much better knowledge of tree decay than the average person walking past a street tree. Don't ignore your intuition - call / email it in :thumbup1:
