Tree location and plotting software

I apologise if this is not the right place to start this diiscussion, but I am trying to find some software that does a specific task, and I thought that AutoCAD (or similar products) might do.

I have an elderly friend who has, for some 25 years, been growing a wide range of specimin trees in his 10 acre garden. He wants to record them in some way, and I would like to find some software that will let him to:

1. Draw the shape of the plot of land to scale, and log its GPS location.

2. Locate on the area the position of each tree, its type, a picture (or more than one) and other information such as height, date of planting, common and latin names etc.

3. Log the position of the tree using GPS

Can any of you offer any help or advice?
