get a good degreaser (jizer) take off all removable parts and soak in a bucket of soapy water, leave to soak as long as poss then give em a quick blast out with a jet washer. the saw will run a bit iffy till its warm and dry again.

what i find most benificial is taking off the plastic cover over the chain brak springs/mechanism and getting this gunk all out (worse when using bio oils) the chain break works under inertia like new and is a really good habit to get into as is keeping the engine cooling fins clean.

If you don't clean the crap out of the chainbrake cover, there is a high chance the alloy tie casting will fracture - the cover will hold it together but still not good.

I take the jug off to clean the fins - a sharp knife and a hot soak gets rid of lts of junk - oven cleaner is good for a real deep clean.
