Been using a VT with micropulley for years as my lanyard. Work brilliantly and dont feel the need for a piece of metal. I trust cord on rope to grip, but then I have never really climbed on a mechanical device so cannot really compare the two. (Apart from steel lanyard which has a chunk of metal on it!) I suppose you find what is good for you and stick to it. :001_cool:

I use an ISC mini rope grab, the big advantage of these over a hitch is they don't jam when climbing spruce or other sappy trees. Dont have a problem with a hitch apart from that though.
