roughyl a meter for a small distal , i personally would not bother with a mechanicle grab on your flip line , a simple dislte and micr pulley will do exactly that same job , also in the event of you needing to be rescued it will be far easyer for the climber to cut the friction cord on your flip line than to try and release the mechanicle device.

This is only my personal opinion and im sure many of you guys will use rope grabs on your flip lines and highly rate them

they could just cut the rope if it's a lanyard. But if you are using a grab on your flip line there needs to be a soft link like a QuickDraw to enable easy rescue.

hiya Rob , i totally agree with you , i had not mentioned that you could cut the rope if it was a lanyard as the question was asked with regards to a wire core flip line , but never the less a do agree , i tend to use an ART positioner on my lanyard but still use a distl on my flipline

I never noticed the op said wire core. Whoops :001_tongue:

How do you find the positioner? I'm very tempted to buy one but I'm struggling to justify one over a distel and pulley setup
