hi all, i have a 338xp that will not go right for love nor money!!!

to me it seems like a fuel problem, but i have tried a new carb, new side bearings, and new pipe and clamp which goes from the carb to the block.

please can someone help??

the saw will start, but it will not take the throttle.

thanks dermie.

could be the fuel filter, fuel line or the tank breather that is bunged up. these would all restrict the flow of fuel to the carb making a lean fuel mixture.

i don't meen to state the obvious but i take it you have tuned the carb?

All good advice - sounds like a weak mixture to me - is the exhaust thick and smokey or almost non existent ..... smokey = too rich

You can test the breather idea by loosening the fuel cap and seeing if the saw picks up at all.

Fuel filter partially blocked, exhaust blocked [check spark arrestor mesh] and as stated before, plug, coil, carb tuning.

Whats the compression like ?

If it fires and dies under load either fuel, air/compression or spark is faulty, step by step eliminate the options, what carb did you fit ? and at what settings ?

I think he has replaced this but calls it "a clamp" - good call if he hadn't though:thumbup1:

Youre probably right, I took that for an impulse hose(not sure if they have them on huskies).

I have no other ideas.

Does get depressing when you replace that many parts and nothing makes a difference!

Hope you can get it sorted though.
