Thought it was time to have another go at this thread! especialy considering both mine and monkies recent finds. What?... you didnt think i was going to leave the fung threads alone till autumn did you!:lol:

Hericium erinaceus, coralloides, cirrhatus:001_cool:

 

then Ischnoderma benzoinum and podocypha multizonata

Here, a real rarity- Piptoporus quercinus AKA the oak polypore I was VERY lucky to see this one, ive since been told that this cant be P. quercinus as it would represent the ONLY known fruiting through bark as apposed to exposed heartwood. So the 1st image below it is just to assure those that have thier own doubts about the identity of these brackets:sneaky2:

 

The annual nature is one key, the orange honeycomb flesh is another, as is the white spore print, oh and the age of the tree over 250 years old:001_tt2:

This one is for bundle, definatley not common or even frequent in my book, boletus impolitus AKA the iodine bolete, so named for the scent of iodine at the base of the stipe, which despite tims protests DID and DOES smell of iodine. He thinks as I smoke I have no sense of smell or at least impaired in comparisom to his "smoke free" sensory gland!:lol:
