Husqvarna 455 rancher

Hi forum does anyone have any info on the above saw, i have been offered one from the states for shy of 300 pounds new. i want to proceed with the sale if you guys think its a good saw.

Its a good saw but if it comes in from the states it will have a 3/8 sprocket rather than a 325. If you wanted to change to 325 it wont be cheap by the time you get new bar and chain. All in all it is a good saw found it a bit under powered on hard woods and working all day with it could get heavy.

my local dealer sells alot of then and he seams to rate them highly

One thing I would say it may be cheap from the states but if it goes wrong you will have no warranty.

I have one its 4 years old now and the only problem i have had it the oiling, My local dealer had to change the filter from the modern plastic one to the older style brass one and he says he has done that to a couple. Oh and the drive sprocket flew to bits the other day so it is awaiting repair. Id buy another one in heartbeat. My dealer says id be better off with the 465 next time though!

You may also wish to investigate whether you'll have to pay VAT and import duty. Some international purchases do attract these.

My husky dealer friend was having a grand opening of his 2nd store and 455's with 20" for $299 USD. I seen they are now up to $349 after grand opening. IMO the 455 and MS290 are on the same level. plastic clamshell designs.

Just purchased a £28 tach from the US, got stung for £4 on customs duty and £8 handling fee from the Royal Mail:thumbdown:

On a £300 import, you will have to pay VAT on it but I think you are ok if it is an import from an EU country with tax paid within that country.
