As part of my uni course i have to write a report and do a presentaion on a controversial health and safety subject within my field.

I have read other posts on the same subject from members past and present doing the same thing, and along with current subjects being highly talked about and quite controversial i have decided to do the subject of one handed 200t use.

What i'm after though is accident statistics for this particular field (yes i know its quite narrow rather than comparative to tree work as a whole), i have checked the HSE website and have found a couple of case studies i could use, and also peoples opinions on here can be analysed, but can't seem to find any thorough studies and numbers on accidents.

Does anyone out there know of any other sites i could investigate or a national health and safety database of all accidents i could search?

Adding to that i've also looked in afag308, but nothing apart from saying it shouldn't be done if a good working position can be acheived, nothing on statistics..

Tbh I dont think you will find anything.

Definitely nothing specific to one handed accidents.

Unless you trawl through arb sites and collate it all.

:001_smile:

I did a poll on it along time ago, not very scientific though I'm afraid.

how do you assess statistics - from A+E records? I know a guy how cut his foot with an axe but he told A+E staff he 'dropped a piece of metal on his foot'.

Even doctors use set causes of death on certificates.

I quess HSE records will be for major 'reported' accidents only.
