I want to get myself confident around water before taking them. The guys i met today recomended canadian kayaks for the family thing, i had a go in them a few years back, it was great:thumbup1:

Sit on top kayaks are good if you only want to use it in the summer unless your fully prepared to wear a dry suit in winter which believe me aint comfy under your arms when paddling.

Touring kayaks are great all round if you have other friends with them too so you can all go out otherwise it can be lonely.

Canadian kayaks are excellent if the whole family want to go out in it providing its a big un and you have somewhere to store it when not in use.

All boils down to what you want to do.

O and kayaks do hold their money so if you do buy the wrong one sell it and buy new.

It's a Ocean Kayak Caper Angler in olive Green (11ft) comes with launching wheels, split touring paddle and floatation vest. It's been used about 6 times so other than a couple of very light beaching marks on the bottom it's as new.

 

It's a £750 package so looking for 400ish. Don't really want to sell it but the trouble and strife says I have too many hobbies and something must go,,,,,apart from her!

Sea kayaking is great! when I had mine my mate and I would go out most nights after work and explore along the coast. The perfect way to relax and a good way of keeping fit too. We even did a few camping trips along the solway coast etc

 

Poor quality(phone pic) but this was mine

 

I would really love a canadian open top one now. Or be able to make one myself..

When I was about 13yrs old I went on an adventure holiday down the ardeche river in France ..... 14 miles of nudist colony. That was a wonderful holiday i will never forget especially when the beautiful instructor took her top off gulp! and I would of gone back again And again if the dreaded cost of £130 for two weeks wasn't so dam high and my parent couldn't afford it
