i beleive in europe places in germany when i was out there at a friends they do this kinda thing quite alot ie wood is cut split bundled and delivered in the bundles and you then cut down to your log size or a guy comes and does it for you !

 

Just goes to showus how wood fired heating and firewood can be made to be mechanised and a slick operation !

This last one is how the french seem to do it, well they do near our holiday home. It is one price for the standard size, think its 24 or 28inch, we are then charged an additional fee to have the logs cut from 24inch to 12inch.

 

All very civilised and minimal handling.
