Husky 351 problem.

Hello everyone.

Got a Husky 351 that constantly leaks a high amount of oil from the oil holes; leaves a right puddle whenever i put it down!

Minimised the amount being fed by turning the small screw at the bottom of the saw but doesn't seem to have helped.

Gotta admit I don't fully know the ins and outs of a saw being new to this game so any advise would be appreciated.

Have you made sure the oil pickup holes in the bar are properly cleaned out?

 

If they were bunged up then the oil has got to find a way out somewhere when the saw is running as it can't get on to the chain.

 

Start from scratch with a clean saw and then see where the oil is coming from.

 

Or, has the saw been dropped and the oil is creeping out of a weakened seal and not the oiler hole?

 

This would leave a puddle where the saw has been left.

However, I should have said the leak happens even when the saw hasn't been running.

Got a nice puddle in the workshop.

Its not some thing silly like a fine crack in the oil cap is it?

 

or the rubber grommet is un seated?

No, definately leaking from bar side of saw.

Had all the bits off but can't see anything obviously wrong.

Could there be an internal mechanism jammed open?!

Oil pump leaking? check the pump,the feed to it and the feed to the bar.
