willow is it really as bad as they say?

Blimey!! I won't be doing it on that kind of scale. It's just money to fund bits and pieces, new tools, saws etc. Not counting on making big money, probably 300-400 pound at the most.

I have been burning around 80% willow this year .Our stove is going every day from around late sept - late april .

It does burn quicker but gives of a fantastic heat . I have been given around 2 ton which i have cut and split and stacked on pallets for next winter . I will take as much from my mate as he can give me .

 

Gave some to neighbour few days before christmas as he had got a net of damp logs from the petrol station .He said it was lovely and toasty in their living room .

Willow is fine, split it and let it dry properly and it will nice and hot but quick

We bought in two artic lorry loads a few years back of willow in early spring.It was cut at 40",split stacked on pallets in a long row with tin over the top.We started cutting on the bandsaw in the autumn and selling.Everybody who tried the willow wanted more.It was very dry.

We spend several weeks a year pollarding Willows for the Environment Agency so end up with lots of cord wood.

Leave a good season for drying and it processes extremely well, burns strongly but quickly. I rate it highly for wood burning stoves.
