Trading Standards Buy with confidence scheme

Had a letter today from Kent county council trading standards buy with confidence scheme.

 

Just wondering if and body had anything to do with this scheme and is it worth it? They list you on their site and a couple of my competitors are on it.

We got a call like that if it's the same it's a con mate they say they are from the council but they aren't my uncle was in a few of them didn't get a single call they made out I would be amounts a couple others that would be the only ones to get council work a bit like the police magazine cons mate

Buy with confidence is your local trading standards scheme. It is legitimate and your business does get audited, you also have CRB checks. They do list you on the local council website. It has been free for the last few years in Devon, with a small charge of £50 coming into effect this year. It does endorse your business and is particularly relevant for private customers, weeding out rogue traders. We have had several leads from it over the last 12 months and all have converted to customers.

Totally agree but for £50 wouldn't take long to get your money back plus you can use the logo I think.

My local council has a 'Fair Trader' scheme. I think it's about £80pa to be a member. They come round and go through this n that but don't actually look at your work or how you deal with customers etc etc.

 

Nice little money spinner for the council though.
