Its a 29m high Ash tree, with a canopy spread of 22m maximum with a 20 degree lean. mechanical damage to structural roots. The whole tree is unbalanced and has shed some major branches. Its leaning towards a public footpath and the garden is used for educational purposes by the adjacent primary school. Ivy obscures most of the main stem and scaffold branches, hence the climbing inspection.

No fungal fruiting bodies present and little decay apparent apart from some major deadwood at 15m in one stem.

The major issue was the clients fears of stem failure and deadwood falling from the tree when used by the children from the school and she wanted to know what was best for the tree and everone concerned.

I must admit my report did include a few photos a site map and appendix, glossary which padded it out quite a bit!!! Sorry about that guys!

Cant wait now for my next one!

No signs of anything lower down the tree, no sunken patches, depressions, no audible differences with my trusty hammer, no cavities. The stem that has degraded is a little too far gone, no bark and woodboring insect damage, I think its been hidden by the ivy for years.

But other horizontal branches and some that had recently failed exhibited little or no branch taper. I think their weight has added to their demise.

Template is the way to go. The real test is in whether the woman who commissioned the inspection can understand a ten page stream of consciousness from an arborist, or even want to!

As long as she gets what you deem necessary action in your conclusion, and the associated costs re: various options (if incl) Id say that's alls needed?

The point about having the template ..it enables you to file the survey for future reference and such. No need for ten pages!

Ill take a punt on your not having done your PTI with Treelife !

Tim

Nice work, if you can get it btw....
