Ive just priced up a ms280 more power more everything Feel like kicking my self as it was in my price range as well Wish i took more time to look now I just got giddy looking at new things

The weight is not and issue for me as i like things what feel heavy and will last for ages i Got to use a ms270 and like it more then the ms260

The main reason why i went for the ms270 it was cheaper and i could get it with the 16inch and get the 18inch bar chain anf filing kit all for £430 ish

But in the Stihl book it isnt in the proffesional section :)

Just checked

Very true, but it is basically a de-tuned version of the 261. It isn't aimed at the pro market like the 261, more of a 455 rancher saw?

Why would a professional user want a saw that is basically a detuned version of another? Plus it is heavier, so is obviously using different materials?

Orange and white plastic handles weigh the same... ;)

Not any more.

The MS291 and 391 for instance have white back handles altho the tops are not finished with the black insert. Annoyingly the 280 etc have the black insert altho on Stihls website are clearly in the ag and landscaping series not the forestry group.

Stihl have cocked up their website tho because the 271 appears in the forestry section - now wonder folks are confused!
