How dare you, do you know what lengths i went to to avoid any damge to the tree and the fung!

 

cambium saver, rope run through a fork to hold loose away from potential snagging of the fruiting body, climbing up the back side of the tree and well above to ensure no trace of me near its "zone" lol

 

i dont know, wait till i reduce it!

 

Nice one ben, apparently it tolerates frost well and can fruit right up to december!

"My" Hericium (corlloides) is covered in 30 cm of snow and not doing too well...

cheers lads it will be interesting to see how long it will hang about i have enjoyed witnessing this fungi with tony and look forward to the work to retain the habitat of this special tree that he has offered to do:thumbup1:,you cant see in the photo but under the hericium is a bees nest and looked like a woodpecker or a squirrel had beentrying to get the honey as fresh bark was missing around the hole.

WOW! im suprised its in such good condition, maybe this is an advantage fruiting late? i mean if its preserved by frosts its going to be in "optimal " condition as and when conditions improve? dunno, interesting though, youi about over the xmas break cutter? might come over for another butchers!

yes mate iam about your welcome to pop down ,do you think with it been a late fruiter it can escape degrading from insects, be interesting what ones are found feeding and living on this if any known?

Good question, though seeing as this is rare, and the fruitbody that lasted a full year i would asume very little? dunno, guess we should find out!
