Advice on Traffic Management

Straight section of roads are the worst especially for stop and go because people won't slow down if they see the go board. The opo on the stop/go sign needs to control the traffic even if theres nothing coming in the opposite direction by using the stop board.

You can contact the local highways and get a permit for a days lane closure, it's simple to fill the form and can be emailed to the highways officer for that council.

You should have 400yd count downs right the way down to road narrows because the roads speed limit is over 30mph and somebody with chapter 8 to put it out.

If not you could just get on with it and hope nobody decides to fall off the road!:cursing:

Yes you need to imform Highways, and as from Sept 2010 the TM will need to be set up by someone who has 12D T1,T2 units which is now in the Red book, Chapter 8 sign, lighting and guarding training is not enough now. Perhaps employ TM company to do the job wright. Good luck.

You need a single lane closure and a permit from the council...

Personally I would put out a full lane closure with all signage and use traffic lights on a timer with the ability to set all red just in case.

A permit from the council should be free of charge normally and traffic lights will cost about £80 to £100 for a week to hire - much safer than guys on stop/go boards and the same cost as a days wage to pay someone.

You should also have a chapter 8 ticket

Looks a nice tree - interesting dismantle over the carriageway like that.

We have done the new training it not cheap. 2 days classroom and yard based, then you have to set up 2 live sites with 2way lights 2 weeks apart. Cost £1000 approx each man not including there wages and equipment! If you don't use TM alot better off bringing TM company in to do the job. Good luck
