Piptoporus betulinus

Although "a bit lame" by Hamas standards :sneaky2: i thought i'd share these pics of Piptoporus betulinus on a birch log.

It seems that Hama needs his fungi to be covered in bells and whistles before he can take a photo of them. I, however, appreciate the subtle beauty of a classic Birch Polypore.

A very important and worthy fungi.

birch are pioneer trees and pave the way for reforestation of baron wasteland. Endophytic fungi like the piptoporus betulinus break down the early pioneers and help kick start the recycling procseses enabling the succsesion of more significant species like oak ash and beech.

The birch is a symbol of re birth and of rejuvenation to the pagans, and very aptly so i might add.

very fine photos chris, i was just teasing, but as a conniseuer of fine fung i had to leave this one to the padawons!:laugh1:

you see when ones tastes have been refined by the fine dining offered by the hericiums and other class fungoid entities, the betulinus seeams... well like beans on toast apposed to caviar!
