Have you been experiencing long dry periods?

is the site elevated?

Is it for timber production, or wildlife?

This is wales we dont do dry, in fact its a quite wet site. This summer has been quite wet. Last year it had a bumper crop of beech mast nuts, this year it did not fully leaf up, poss only 40-50% leafed up compared to the others on the same site that also had a good year last year.

Elevation is about 100m above sea level. We are on a peninsular so almost surrounded by the sea 2-6 miles away.

Wildlife / amenity woodland. The problem is that the drop zone is the parking spot that is in use every day & the tool shed (but that is being moved soon) so if it does fall naturally the chance of it doing real damage or hurting someone is there.

If we have to fell it I would mill it up to be used on site.
