Another "What would you have done"

Here's another from today similar to Bobs last week. Huge beech tree snapped midway, took out a sycamore and came to rest on a tree house.

Tree house was just about supporting the Sycamore, the Beech's butt was just about holding on by a thread and loads of the stems were under extreme tension.

Cleared a way in first removing brash and thin branches not under tension. Then cut sections of the butt end of the sycamore till it ended up near vertical then pushed it off the tree house using a pole.

Worked down all the branches of the beech logging them off until I came to a supporting bit or section under tension till we were left with a smaller trunk as possible with just a few supporting bits.

Then worked out where to put in a felling cut and the whole thing slid down nicely, never had one worrying moment.

Take your time, think about every cut and possible senarios and plan escape routes for every tension cut. Worked a treat.

Another job where only a 4x4 would do :001_tongue:
