Or no compartmentalisation at all, but demarcation lines of two or more mycelia instead. Were their any FB's of any fungi present ?

 

No fbs present. The root plate was completely rotten and tree had broken in 4 parts when it hit the bridge.

Some compartmentlising on a 3 stemmed Sycamore. One of the stems had been cut two years ago but the stub had all but been rotted away by Dryads Saddle. The rot was only on the cut stub.

syvamore cant compatmetalise P. squamosus IMO and this is reflected in your buterrfly of codit, showing that it broke through via the pith

Had our in house tree team doing some roadside work on a site we manage. The majority of the trees were healthy but were leaning heavily towards the road and we had 2 fail in the January winds. Here is a pictures of an Ash stump. I don't think the black crust is Kretzschmaria deusta but may well be Hypoxylon multiforme. As you can see the rot was extensive in this tree and it showed no signs of decline. We knew some of the trees were goosed but we werent sure how goosed.

i was amazed at the amount of decay in the limb that the crack went up to that you had to cut back hard but a least it had a healthy epicomic to reduce to

but it was top down not bottom up ben so its nothing to worry about, it was a healthy collar at the cut:thumbup1:
