PTI retake exam this Tuesday.

Got the unoffical result today.failed by 5 pionts.The pass mark was 70% and i got 65%...so close again.This is the second time i have done it.Did ok on the written exam and fungi test but not so well on the two inspections.Tree 1 had a stump 7-8 meters away with Ustilina on it and i should have seen it and set up a rigorous monitoring schedule.There was no mention of my recomendations that the canopy needed a 30% reduction and a lot of end weight on a lot of the limbs.

 

Missed a compression fork on tree 2 which was 10 meters up with severe reaction wood around it.

 

lessons to be Learnt from it...look more around at the site where the tree is and get more experince doing tree inspections.

 

Obviously dissapointed but may think about taking it again in Febuary.

 

need beer now to drown sorrows.

dont worry mate....know its a pain but theres plenty of time eh.......and you are very very close to the pass so it will come!

If you have tried your best, revision ect I cant see what your boss can moan at.

Id rather have someone that has failed a number of times but when he has passed nows it like the back of his hand and ends up possibly being more thourough in the long run.

paul did my retake exam at the AA HQ, he made some good comments on my report and was really fair, since passing the exam i haven't looked back and gone from utillity climber to highways tree inspector to Local Authority Senior Tree Officer in 3 years.

did you do it the retest at AA HQ too. my tree inspections were a norway maple and a beech with an adjacent ustulina infected stump.

yes Tim same trees as you did.Well done for doing so well.If i had known what you knew about the trees before hand should have picked your brain LOL....only joking i should have known these if i had more experince.Wil maybe try again in Feb.Just dont want another negative result again or else il get a little deflated.
