Stihl hedgecutter needed

Which is the one to buy Stihl HS81T or the HS81R

 

One is for trimming the other for thicker more woody material.

 

With us we get called in mainly for reductions and try to steer clear of hedge trimming unless is trimming which needs specail tackle that your average gardner can't take on.

 

We are generally cutting through thumb sized material.

could i use the hs81r for a all round cutter ?ie trimming as well as cutting back ? cheers

of course...the problem you'll find is when you are using it on bigger stuff you'll mess up the blades a little and it wont leave as nice a finish when you cut fine stuff.....i have 2 cutters, i try use 1 for each task.

i have a HS81R used to have the 26 inch i think it is or 24 inch but got replaced with the 30inch by insurance. preferd the smaller one much easier to use all day you can certainly tell the difference in weight. but its a brilliant machine.

 

does anyone else find the stihl hedge cutters a pain to start. there normally ok but occasionally my plays up and takes ages to start. once had to leave a job cos of it got home and it started fine and it was 2 weeks old.
