Currently have no experience but am signed up for a CS30 Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-Cutting (NPTC) course with Writtle College (18th and 19th Oct with Assessment date on 25th Oct). I have my own chainsaw boots but currently no other equipment due to lack of money!

sean1212 - hi yea i do drive, full clean UK driving license! go me :D hah!

felix - Im looking to get my own equipment once i get paid from my current job! what are the things i should buy first? excluding boots as i already have them! Ive tried sooo many places and no-one seems to want me at the moment due to my lack of experience but im hoping that the course will stand me in a better position! some firms havent got back to me at all so ive just kept on bugging them!! Ive tried TreeFella and they said they have nothing at present but theyre keeping my CV for the future!

You will need a pair of type C trousers, chainsaw gloves and a lid with ear defenders and a visor. You will need them for cs30/31 anyway. I was in the same boat as you this time last year so I know how disheartening it can be. Where are you doing your course?
