The Best hedgetrimmer

I'm on the lookout for the very best double-sided hedgetrimmer currently on the market. By best I mean on all fronts. Best cut, best at holding a sharp edge, lowest vibrations etc. I dont want this to spiral downhill as a Stihl/husky/Robin debate, I want good honest experienced facts. Ftr, I currently use a Robin, which is very good except for vibes.

well the old stihl hs80's are briliant, but as for the new hs81, my boss has had a string of problems with, think it might have a dodgy carb or sumit

Got this brand spanking little beauty today! Other pics show it's older sibling; interesting differences, not least the bulk and weight of the gearbox - much less of it on the new one...:001_rolleyes:

That 1 should keep you going for another 10 years. The 341 will be my next trimmer.

Ive got a stihl hs81t 30" for the thin stuff and a 81r for the thicker branches, had them for a year now, still going strong although it does take about 7 or 8 pulls to get them started. I used to have echos but the last one gave in after only 6 months and i was quoted £250!! to fix it, stuck it on gumtree for £70.

I presume you lot have local dealers to get parts from???

At least with Stihl you can get parts the same or the next few days and all of this should be took into consideration about how good the machine is!

I personally will stick with what I use and know works great the Stihl HS81's cut fine, providing they are sharp!

I have had a few problems with one of our 81R's but its the valve on the fuel tank I think?

The other manufactures are probably lighter and and cut really fast. its just getting the parts!!

Parts are easy when they are needed which isn't very often:001_tt2:
