Hi there,

I run community food growing projects on council estates in Newham, East London, and wondered if any of you guys know of someone who can let us have loads of woodchips.

We use this to lay on top of weed suppressant sheeting on some of our sites.

Please contact me on 07961 674210 if you can help.

thanks, Alison

Have you got any more information about the growing scheme?

Sorry I cant help you with the chip -but last time I checked it was about £80 per ton round here. It will be a kind soul who gives it for free, but theres a few about.

I have done a fair bit off work with a community orchard scheme and wonder how they compare :)

Cheers,

Sam

You need to change your thread title to 'free chip tip site in east london'. There are often guys on here needing places to tip in the capital.

Hi Alison i would contact Gristwood & Toms as they are the one of the largest tree surgery companies covering the south. Ask to speak to Andy Toms or Dave Gristwood i am sure they will be able to help. look them up on the internet

I originally set up The Dirty Hands project in Plaistow, East London 18 months ago. We took a disused corner of my council estate and filled it with raised beds and bulk building site bags and invited residents to come along and grow organic fruit and vegetables.

Through setting up this project I was then offered a job by East Thames housing setting up and running food growing projects across Newham.
