A few good areas of ancient oak woodland left....notably Brocton Coppice and around Shugborough Some good alder carr too.

Was hoping to see plenty of fungi but there are a few fruit farms around using Eastern european labour and they've raided the place for anything edible!

Graham, what were the Ganoderma like brackets on, in pic three?

Oak?

I'm puzzled as to what that growth below them on the left hand side is.

As for edibility, though not entirely sure on the shroom in the first shot (may be a developing Parasol - Macrolepiota procera, stems not quite right for me on a posi Id))

Not tempted to have a little fung feast with the Lycoperdon & Laetiporus?

Think it might be a slug mate. :001_rolleyes:

Well, "that" it would appear,

has just signaled the end of me pretending that I'm still young of organ & mind.

Bring on the dentures & bi-focals, I'm officially middle aged and on a spiral toward me grave :001_rolleyes:

Though it was a weird phallus type fung doing an emergence :blushing::biggrin:

Gano is on an oak. I'll check back to see if that growth has crawled off....never noticed it at the time.

Tempted to try the chicken but didn't give the puff balls a thought. Was looking for chanterelles but must be too late.
