Good stove/bad stove

We have two stoves, an excellent although expensive Woodwarm and a not so good Hunter. They are fitted in identical chimneys, the Woodwarm will burn 24/7 no probs whilst it is a struggle to keep the Hunter going all day because it tends to die!

 

So am looking to replace said Hunter but would prefer not to pay as much as Woodwarm. Machine mart are doing what appears pretty good deals on the Clarke range including this one: Clarke Regal Cast Iron Stove - Machine Mart anyone know about them?

I have a regal, highly rate it, much better made than I was expecting it to be. I would happily buy another, the throw a lot of heat for the size

We have a Barrel Stove by Clarke in the study, it is very good. About three years old - I wouldnt hesitate buying another. In the lounge we have a Morso Panther, its better but twice the price!

 

 

The barrel is quite small though, so I dont think it would be ideal for bigger room. But the quality is good

What the stove? I dont have any problems with it, i dont have central heating so the house is heated on the regal stove and a rayburn.

 

it burns well and is easily controllable, i have mine out in the room and use the rear flue into the chimney, and we can boil the kettle/cook on it quite easily and it heats a 5mtrx5mtr room to the point where we have to open the windows and doors in the middle of winter,

 

 

or the special open evenings? in which case they are also good if you buying cheaper tools as its limited to Clarke tools for the 17.5% savings, i think its about 10% off everything else,

Sorry Charlieh, I meant the stove! We like to burn 24/7 when the weather is colder, are they good at keeping in all night? Are they well controlled?

seem easy enought to control, if i want it in all night i use a solid briquette from cpl called stove heat, as i use this is the rayburn and a small shovel full means both will still be in when i get up or get home from work

I have to let my Hunter go out every ten days so I can clean out the ash. It'll burn 24/7 for weeks if I let it.

I suppose I`ve opened another can of worms!

There are, no doubt, good and not so good examples of all makes. I`m just not so keen to spend little short of £1k on a Woodwarm if the Clarke example will be very nearly as good.
