Hired in a small tracked chipper. labouriously slow getting from a to b but a fine compact piece of kit. we had the 17 mtr one but MonkeyD had the 23 mtr and was just as compact.

Wasnt as manouvarable as i thought it would be but it sufficed. I'm sure if i had it for a few days and played around with all the scopes and booms it would be more so......good bit of kit though.

This Oak is ongoing.....aim to alleviate weight off of extended limbs.....was selectively reduced approx 4 years ago and as can be seen has responded very well......has lost a couple of largish limbs in the past. Carried out a further 15% selective reduction. Although not a true vet in my eyes yet it is surely one for the future. Having been up it all day (which was a pleasure to climb) and seen at close quarters that which cannot be seen from the ground It has all the hallmarks of a great vet of the future. Limbs which due to wind force have already twisted, split etc. It has hazard beams, developing cavities, woodpecker holes.....great tree and no targets.

Had a couple of hours spare whilst a colleague deadwooded the oak in pic 1.......took a little stroll around and took some snaps.

A day in the park.....1st for a few weeks.....had this big old limb collapse off a vet oak.....i reduced this limb last summer.....obviously not enough!! By the sheets of white mycelium i'm presuminmg that the old chicken is a firm suspect?

 

Found some chicken on willow later in day and these Squamosis which give a fine display year on year.
